A couple from New Zealand, burdened with five failed IVF attempts and three heartbreaking pregnancy losses, arrived at Sunflower Infertility and IVF Centre searching for hope. For the past three years, they had battled secondary infertility, facing repeated disappointments and shattered dreams.

The 31-year-old woman had a significantly low ovarian reserve (AMH: 0.4), while her husband was diagnosed with azoospermia and high FSH levels. A detailed evaluation further revealed that she had an adenomyotic and bulky uterus, adding another layer of complexity to their journey.

Determined to give them the best chance, our team put her on DHEAS for three months to improve ovarian reserve, while her husband received antioxidant therapy to enhance his fertility potential. Once we saw improvements in both ovarian function and semen parameters, we initiated IVF stimulation with recombinant FSH and LH.

The first ICSI cycle resulted in two Day 3 embryos, which were cryopreserved. To increase their chances, we counseled the couple to undergo another stimulation cycle to create more embryos. Encouraged by our expertise and their growing trust in the process, they agreed. The second stimulation led to the formation of two more Day 3 embryos and one Day 5 embryo, all frozen for future use.

To prepare her uterus for implantation, a hysteroscopy was performed, followed by conservative treatment for adenomyosis. Confident and hopeful, the couple proceeded with their first Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) cycle. But fate tested them once again—the beta-hCG test came back negative.

Devastated and emotionally drained, the woman began considering egg donation or surrogacy as her last options. However, after extensive counseling, we encouraged her to take one more chance—with her own embryos, in her own uterus. Gathering all her courage, she agreed.

This time, her perseverance was rewarded. The pregnancy test came back positive, and today, she is experiencing a healthy and thriving pregnancy. Her journey is a testament to patience, faith, and the miracles that modern fertility treatments can bring when combined with unwavering hope.
